Only a few days to go before we can welcome you at the XIIIth International Controlled and Modified Atmosphere Research Conference (CAMA). This edition will take place Monday 16 to Wednesday 18 of August, 2021 as an online event hosted from Leuven, Belgium.
It is still possible to join us. Find out more about our low registration fees and free options for colleagues from low and lower-middle income countries. To allow as many people to join from everywhere around the globe we have scheduled all activities during our afternoon (CEST time). In addition, presentations will be prerecorded to allow access at times more convenient to your situation.
Presenters of oral contributions are requested to prepare full video presentations available for online previewing, while the actual presentation time slots during the program will be used for intensive discussion and Q&A introduced by a short 5 min live summary presentation. Similar for the poster presentations, authors will be invited to, next to their static poster, upload a short recruiting video to introduce themselves and their research and to invite people to come to their online presentation time slot. During the actual poster time slots people can meet around the poster and the author can make use of all online means to interact with the audience.
Also sponsors will be accommodated for and informal networking between the participants will be stimulated. Authors are stimulated, when enrolling within the conference environment, to complete their personal profile with details on their background, interests and expertise to facilitate networking during the conference.
With the theme ‘Fast Forward to a Fresh Future’ we aim at creating a unique exchange forum for discussing recent progress in scientific knowledge and industrial development of controlled and modified atmosphere technology for fruit and vegetables. During the event, we provide ample opportunities for presenting fundamental and applied research and technical innovations, discussions with international experts from academia and industry, and exhibitions of new products and services.
The conference is organized by the staff of the MeBioS Postharvest group of KU Leuven and the Flanders Centre of Postharvest Technology, in close collaboration with the ISHS and the EU RoxyCOST action. Altogether we plan to create an online event worthwhile joining and actively contributing to. We are thrilled to explore together with you this new concept and will do our utmost best to turn this exceptional edition of CAMA2021 into a memorable success providing an inspiring scientific exchange forum.
Looking forward to e-meeting you at CAMA2021 coming August.
Bart Nicolaï and Maarten Hertog, conference chairs.
