instructions for ONLINE (poster) PRESENTATIONS

The conference platform

The conference will be organized using Whova which can be downloaded for free from your favorite app store. Whova works together with Zoom, so all meetings will take place through the zoom interface integrated from within Whova. Your login to Whova will be managed through your email account used for registering with the conference. You will receive an email to provide you with more information on the Whova system.

Oral presentations

Presenters of oral contributions are requested to prepare a full prerecorded video presentations available for online previewing. During the actual 15 min online presentation time slot, the authors are asked to give a 5 min live summary presentation to introduce the subsequent discussion and Q&A session chaired by one of the senior participants. Please check out the program to find the code of your ORAL presentation.

What you need to prepare for your oral presentation is the following:

  • A full 15 min pre-recorded presentation of your research
    • To prepare the pre-recorded video presentation you can easily make use of the options  available within PowerPoint (see instruction here) or your favorite presentation software.
    • In the email mention “ORAL” + The code of your presentation + The title of your contribution
    • Do transfer your file by August 12 at the latest
  • A short 5 min summary presentation focusing on the main highlights of your research.
    • This short summary presentation can stay with you to be shared by you to your audience during the zoom meeting.

Poster presentations

Poster presenters will be invited to, next to their static poster, upload a short recruiting video to introduce themselves and their research thus to invite people to come to their online presentation time slot. During the actual poster time slots the author can meet people ‘face-to-face’ around the poster and the author can make use of all online means to interact with the audience. Please check out the program to find the code of your POSTER presentation.

What you need to prepare for your poster presentation is the following:

  • A short promotional video on your research (2-3 min)
    • In the email mention “POSTER_PROMO” + The code of your poster + The title of your contribution
  • A landscape oriented PDF version of your research poster (one single slide, preferably in a widescreen 16:9 ratio for viewing on screen)
    • This poster you will be invited to upload to the Whova system directly. Please wait until you receive instructions for this.
    • For online poster presentations, we can recommend this tutorial for helping you designing your static poster.
    • This pdf will be the poster judged by the ISHS for their Young Mind Awards for junior scientist. Please check out the ISHS rules for eligibility.
  • Any other material (presentation, graphs, simulations, photo material etc) you deem to be relevant to support during your interaction with the poster visitors. All of this material can stay with you to be shared by you to your audience during your zoom meeting.
